Hello and welcome! Please understand that this website is not affiliated with Jean Desprez in any way, it is only a reference page for collectors and those who have enjoyed the classic fragrances of days gone by.

One of the goals of this website is to show the present owners of the Jean Desprez perfume company how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back these fragrances!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the fragrance, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories, what it reminded you of, maybe a relative wore it, or you remembered seeing the bottle on their vanity table), who knows, perhaps someone from the current Jean Desprez brand might see it.

Nuit de Versailles by Jean Desprez c1958

In 1958, Jean Desprez created another perfume for Daggett & Ramsdell, named Nuit de Versailles. Originally introduced in a parfum splash, in 1959, it was available in a spray form. It was still being sold in 1967.

This exceptional perfume was specially created for DAGGETT & RAMSDELL by Jean Desprez on the occasion of the Versailles Ball given in honor of American and French Debutantes.

Fragrance Composition:

What does it smell like?

  • Top notes: citrus
  • Middle notes: rose, jasmine
  • Base notes: sandalwood, amber, musk, oakmoss

Some sources claim 1949 as the launch date for Nuit de Versailles, but the only advertisement I was able to find was from 1958, promoting both Debutante de Versailles & Nuit de Versailles for Daggett & Ramsdell. I did find a patent being granted in 1967 to Daggett & Ramsdell, an assignee of World Wide Fragrances, Inc. for perfume sprays. Filed Dec. 19, 1966 by Daggett and Ramsdell International Corp. , New York . Claims use since Oct. 1964.

Fate of the Fragrance:

Discontinued around 1967.
